The passage of time is inevitable The knowledge of this the blessing and curse of man The joy of opportunity and inspiration The fear of consequences and doubt I sit and think of these Like Schrodinger, both real and imaginary I feel the tip of my scales Heavy with the fears of tomorrow Finding a new path I’m not sure I can navigate Realizing that the world I know is faceted with realities A diamond cut sharp and brilliant Set on my finger for me to decide Do I let the fear become reality? Do I have the choice? Or do I choose another face? Do I polish it until the brilliance is blinding? Realizing that the fears of this reality don’t transfer They are set in the stone of my former life As I sit on this precipice Pondering this facet, this box, this set of scales I hold my breath and watch time pass
